About Healing Hearts

Most of the Moms of the Healing Hearts first met at a previous support group, which separated after a couple years.

It was during this time, strong bonds were formed thus creating a second support group, Healing Hearts.

Since its inception, we have had several new Mothers join the group.

In addition to our monthly meetings which take place at each other's home, we also meet on occasion for dinner, movies, etc.

Some of the Fathers join us as well, which is very important. When a parent loses a child, there is no one who can really understand what this horrific journey is like other than another grieving parent.

Not to say we don't receive support from friends and family, but it is difficult for someone on the outside to really relate to what we are going through on a day to day basis.

Healing Hearts also feels in helping others, it honors our children. We have adopted families during the holidays, helped out at the local Food Bank, delivered food, clothing and gifts at various homeless shelters, etc. It is in helping others that we begin to help and heal our hearts.

Healing Hearts gives us a purpose, as well as strong, unwavering friendships that will hopefully last a lifetime. We also feel it's our mission to reach any parent who has lost a child and feels isolated, alone and in need of support.

We walk in the same shoes. We feel the same pain, and we need to share our stories in the hopes it will reach our fellow grieving parents.

Our hope is that our story touches anyone who is in need of healing, support and compassion. Our stories are all different, yet the pain is the same.

The way our children passed does not matter, the age of our child does not matter, and there is no judgment whatsoever in our support group. When a child is lost, all that matters is surviving each day, sometimes each hour.

We will continue to make this journey together.

When faced with the most difficult circumstances that life offers, having the support of ones who have walked that journey before can bring a source of comfort.
